Too Good's Nina Del Mar is a full blooded Chincoteague Pony that I, along with my Mother, Genie, and brother's wife, Casey, purchased at the annual Pony Penning and Fair put on every year as a fund raiser for the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department. 2001 was the 76th annual Pony Penning, but the practice has been going on for over 100 years. For more information about the History of the Chincoteague Pony and the annual Pony Penning check out the links at bottom of page.

Nina behaved exactly how you would expect a wild pony foal to behave. She was extremely nervous in all human/horse interactions. She was convinced that carrots and treats must be poison for the way she would react to them. But over time and much persistence on my part, she began to see the joys of domestication, and once I shoved a few baby carrots in her mouth, the wonderful world of Horse Treats.

Today she is the most affectionate filly and just loves to be kissed and pampered like the little princess that she is. She also has a nice conformation and beautiful head. She should top out at 14.2 since she was 13.3 at 2 years old, which will make her a perfect little ridding horse.

We have just begun some basic lunge line training this summer, i.e. learning to stay out on the lunge. I will keep posting milestones as we pass them.
